Board of Directors

Laurence S. Levy, Chairman has served as Essex' Chairman of the Board since October 31, 2008. Mr. Levy was previously CEO of Hyde Park Acquisition Corp., a SPAC that acquired Essex Crane Rental Corp. on October 31, 2008. Mr. Levy has been the chairman of the board of directors and chief executive officer of Rand Logistics, Inc. (originally known as Rand Acquisition Corporation), a company that provides bulk freight shipping services throughout the Great Lakes region, since its inception in June 2004. Mr. Levy serves as an officer or director of many companies in which Hyde Park Holdings, LLC or its affiliates invests including: Ozburn-Hessey Logistics LLC, a national logistics services company, of which Mr. Levy is a director; Derby Industries LLC, a sub-assembly business to the appliance, food and transportation industries, of which Mr. Levy is chairman; PFI Resource Management LP, an investor in the Private Funding Initiative program in the United Kingdom, of which Mr. Levy is general partner; Parking Company of America Airports LLC, an owner and operator of airport parking garages, of which Mr. Levy is a director; Regency Affiliates, Inc., a diversified publicly listed company, of which Mr. Levy is chairman, chief executive officer and president; and Warehouse Associates L.P., a provider of warehouse and logistics services, of which Mr. Levy is chairman. Mr. Levy received a Bachelor of Commerce degree and a Bachelor of Accountancy degree from the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa and an M.B.A. from Harvard University and graduated as a Baker Scholar. He is also qualified as a Chartered Accountant (South Africa).

Matthew Campbell has served as an investment management professional for over 20 years, including serving as Principal and Portfolio Manager of Laridae Capital, an investment fund that Mr. Campbell founded.  Prior to Laridae Capital, Mr. Campbell served for approximately 18 years as Partner and Analyst at Knott Partners LP, a hedge fund based in New York.  Mr. Campbell has also served as the Vice-Chairman of the New York and Connecticut chapters of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, a not-for-profit dedicated to finding cures and ensuring access to treatments for blood cancer patients.  Mr. Campbell has a Bachelor of Science degree from Hobart and William Smith Colleges.

John Climaco  is a self-employed consultant, specializing in providing consulting services in turnaround situations. Prior to that, Mr. Climaco was the President and Chief Executive Officer, as well as a member of the board of directors, of Axial Biotech, Inc., a molecular diagnostics company specializing in spine disorders, which he co-founded in 2003. He is currently a board member and Chairman of the Strategic Advisory Committee at Digirad in addition to being a member of the board of directors at Perma-Fix Sevices, Inc. Previously, he has served on the board of directors for both PDI, Inc. and InfuSystem Holdings, Inc. Mr. Climaco has seven years of experience in private practice of law, specializing in corporate law and tax law, and holds a Bachelor of Arts cum laude, from Middlebury College and a Juris Doctorate from the University of California, Hastings College of Law.

William Fox served as Vice President, Cranes and Earthmoving for H&E Equipment Services, Inc. from its formation in September 2005 until December 2013.  Prior to that, he served as Vice President, Cranes and Earthmoving of H&E LLC from its formation in 2002 until its merger with and into H&E Equipment Services, Inc. in 2006. Mr. Fox served as Executive Vice President and General Manager of Head & Engquist from 1995 and served as President of South Texas Equipment Co., a subsidiary of Head & Engquist, from 1995 to 1997.  Prior to that, Mr. Fox held various executive and managerial positions with the Manitowoc Engineering Company and its subsidiary, North Central Crane.  He was Executive Vice President/General Manager from 1989 to 1995, Vice President of Sales from 1988 to 1989, and General Manager from 1986 to 1988 of Manitowoc Engineering Company. Mr. Fox was Executive Vice President/General Manager at North Central Crane from 1980 to 1986.

Lee Keddie is the Chief Executive Officer of Value Creation Management Group LLC, which invests in and provides consulting to companies that need operational improvement. Prior to that, Mr. Keddie served as the President and General Manager of HKX from November 2005 to August 2013 and General Manager of HKX from June 2000 to November 2005. HKX is a manufacturer and distributor of specialized hydraulic equipment used in the construction industry. He currently serves on the boards of directors of two companies that are not traded on stock exchanges.  Mr. Keddie is a professional engineer with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Waterloo.

Nicholas Matthews was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer in March 2014.  He previously served as Chief Operating Officer for Essex Rental Corp. Prior to joining the Company, Mr. Matthews served as Vice President and Group Executive for Railcar Operations at GATX, a global leader in railcar leasing, where he was responsible for GATX's North American railcar maintenance operations, engineering group, railcar service centers, field service activities and contract shop operations. Prior to GATX, Mr. Matthews held a variety of operational roles at FreightCar America and Trinity Industries. Mr. Matthews graduated from Grove City College with a BS in Industrial Management.
